Spicing Up the Training Programme

Our very own Mr Willem Schenk from the West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, was featured in this month's edition of the Journal of Trauma & Orthopaedics (JTO).

In this article, he and Dr Sunil Wijayasinghe, senior Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeon and past president of the Sri Lankan Orthopaedic Association, talk about the successful registrar/fellowship programme that has been established between Sri Lanka and the UK.

They have provided a great contribution to the UK hospitals they have joined, particularly bringing a wealth of experience managing trauma cases, particularly as first surgeon.

Steps towards facilitating UK trainees undertaking fellowships in Sri Lanka have also been taken, starting with Mr Ady Abdelhaq spending five months at Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital, Columbo.
